Frequently Asked Questions

Who Is This Service For?

Our ASN registration service caters to both businesses and individuals residing in the RIPE service region, namely in Europe. You can check if your organization country is part of the RIPE service area using the next link :
https://www.ripe.net/membership/member-support/list-of-members/

Individuals must be at least 18 years old (or meet the jurisdictional age requirement) to enter into the sponsorship agreement.

What documents are needed for the ASN registration?

To prepare your ASN request, your organization must sign the “Assignment Request and Maintenance Contract” in line with RIPE policies.

We also require a valid form of identification: a less than 3 months recent registration document, or a Certificate of Good Standing from the relevant national authorities for legal persons (i.e. companies/organizations), a digital copy of the passport or another valid ID document in case of natural persons (sole traders or individuals).

If your company documents are not in English, RIPE might ask for a certified translation. This requirement is generally waived for businesses established within the EU.

Contact us if you’re uncertain about any documentation needs.

Why an initial email contact?

The ASN Registration process involves a collaborative effort between your organization, our team, and RIPE. The initial consultation is the first step, during which we collect necessary details required by RIPE, including:

  • Your RIPE Person/ORG/Maintainer objects.
  • The IP address space you intend to advertise with your new ASN.
  • Information regarding your BGP peering partners.

Our expert team is on hand to assist you every step of the way.

Is a 16-bit ASN Available?

While RIPE generally allocates 32-bit ASNs, we can request a 16-bit ASN on your behalf if you provide appropriate justification (e.g., network equipment limitations).

Can I Manage the ASN Entry on My Own?

Yes, once the ASN is assigned to your organization, you are free to edit your RIPE WHOIS entry directly. We are always available to offer support if needed.

Are there requirements for requesting an ASN?

Yes, there are a few key requirements.

Your network must demonstrate the need for an ASN by operating in a multi-homed environment—that is, maintaining at least two distinct BGP-capable connections .

In addition, you are expected to hold a minimum IP address allocation: either a /24 block of IPv4 addresses or a /48 block of IPv6 addresses. These requirements ensure your organization can effectively manage and route internet traffic.

If you don't currently have sufficient IP space, we include a free IPv6 PA /44 subnet leasing as part of the offer.
